Verse of the day
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
The law of Christ is the law of love. This is the summary of our call as believers: love for God and for people.
The law of Love is the basic foundation every believer’s life lies on because the nature of our Father is Love and He is Love Himself.
The beautiful thing about this is that God never leaves us guessing or wondering if we are in love. 1 Corinthians 13 contains the parameters by which we can clearly test our love walk.
Love is Patient and Kind
Patience is not just the ability to endure things but is about our attitude while we endure. When a person continually does things you don’t like, it is easy to put up a front and bear with the person while boiling on the inside and nursing all sorts of anger with grumblings.
Love isn’t like that. Love bears offenses without harboring ill feelings. It forgets about its own ‘rights’ and feelings. There is a reason the scripture bundles up patience with kindness (“Love suffers long and is kind…”). Patience is kind and kindness is patient. This is what Love looks like.
This is what God looks like.
Love Doesn’t Envy. Love Isn’t Proud
The nature of love is one of complete selflessness. Envy, on the other hand, is all about “ME”. Envy says, “why should this person have what I don’t have?” Love is utterly devoid of self. Why would love even make comparisons in the first place?
Love never parades itself. It doesn’t seek to draw attention to itself. Its candor is one of humble honesty and never has a bloated or puffed up view of self. Love, in fact, forgets self.
No wonder only God can bring this life to full expression in us because it is His nature. He knows no other life. And by reason of our new birth, we are partakers of this divine life. We are ‘forgetters’ of ourselves.

I carry the life of Love in me. I declare that I am patient, kind, humble and not envious.
