Verse of the day.
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
God speaks all the time. There is hardly a time when He isn’t speaking varied but unified things to mankind. The world started by the utterances of God, and it is sustained by the same.
The utterances of God are Life and Light. Serving as a lamp to our feet, and a light to our path, the speakings of God bring us clarity of direction. There is absolutely nothing we would do or be without the speakings of God. If ever we did anything outside of His utterances, we’d most probably be working against Him, negating His acts in our lives. This is one of the many reasons we can’t afford to live our lives without hearing what God has to say about the things we do – whatsoever; be it life, godliness, business, relationships, career, leisure, God wants to have a say in all that we do.
Often we are scared, that if we listened and heard the will of God concerning our lives and direct engagements, our lives as we know it would be interrupted. Even if did this happen, we should learn to live with the assurance that the thoughts of God towards us are always thoughts of peace and never of evil. Even if He sometimes takes us through dark valleys, it’s all for our good, to help us attain His dreams for us which are infinitely loftier than ours.

The Sad Truth
If we attempt to live without listening, hearing and following God, we will end up living without Him. That in itself is death to a degree. It’ll be tantamount to labouring wearily as a fool who doesn’t know the way into the city (Ecclesiastes 10:15).
What is your part?
God speaks all the time. Take time to listen to Him. When you do this as often as you can, it helps you see and experience His glory as frequently. In time, the glory you find causes God to become your dream, your pursuit, your ambition. You love Him more when you see, hear and know Him more. It doesn’t end here. When you make God your dream, He makes you His dream, doing all to ensure that His peaceful thoughts for you are accomplished.
How do you listen to God?
You must learn to take time away from all just to listen to God as you fellowship with Him through worship, conversations in prayers and study. In addition to this, you must learn to listen to God at any other time of the day. Listen to Him during regular engagements: while doing the dishes, while in the shower, while walking on the street, while driving, while watching a movie, during a lunch break, even while taking a nap.

There is no limit to the means or frequency at which God speaks. Your greatest responsibility must be to cultivate a place of deep intimate fellowship with Him. This causes you to be familiar with Him such that even if He spoke to you through rainfall or sunshine, condensed thoughts or ideas, imaginations, dreams, or visions, revelations, and prophecies, you know it’s Him. Being familiar with Him also entails being familiar with His Word. This way His word serves as judge over whatever means through which you hear. His word either affirms or debunks what you ‘heard Him say’, for the utterances of God are one with His written word. And yes God can speak through your emotions too, He created them and can find expression through them.
In your place of intimate fellowship with Him, find how peculiarly Jesus speaks to you, engage and grow in it. His utterances must teach you to be more spiritual than carnal, more selfless than selfish, more godly than ungodly.

Father, today I receive the ability to listen and hear You, to behold and see You, for in so doing, I see, hear and know You as You really are and am made just like You
