Verse of the day
But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter until the perfect day.
What Makes Us “Just”?
Being justified by faith means that we have been made right with God by believing in His Son Jesus. This is our testimony who have believed in our hearts and confessed with our mouths our faith in Christ Jesus (Romans 10:9-10). This testimony also makes us seek to walk worthy of the grace we have received (Ephesians 4:1) and come to the true knowledge of God and an intimate, life-changing relationship with Him.
Dawn and Dusk
The path of the just speaks of a journey- of believing, seeing, receiving and becoming. It begins with faith and is sustained by faith (Romans 1:17). This path is described in today’s verse as the shining sun.
When the sun begins to rise in the early hours of the morning, its light appears faint. As the hours go by, it becomes brighter and the true colours of nature and the things around us are seen in all their beauty. This light peaks at noon and soon begins to recede, giving way to the darkness of the night.

As much as this picture helps us understand what it means for us to have come into God’s Light, there is a part that does not apply to us. We have no dusk. Our text tells us that this path shines brighter unto the perfect day. When we first started out on this journey into Christ, we had questions in our hearts- a lot of them. Many things didn’t seem clear. God seemed hard to reach and His voice hard to detect. Many things about His Word seemed vague and puzzling (just like the break of dawn when the darkness still seems to be more than the light). But soon, we learn and grow and see things better.
So, no matter how this journey may seem on some days, we can be assured that as the intensity of the Light continues to increase, we will grow in clarity and understanding. We will see more clearly the hand of God all around us, the will of God through the events of our lives, and the wisdom of God working in and through everything.

Father, today I am open to being led and guided by the voice of Your Spirit in this walk of faith. I believe Christ Jesus to be the Way to Life and as I live by faith in Him, I receive clarity, peace, wisdom, and understanding.
