Verse of the day.
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
I used to think it was impossible to live without sinning. If we put away the sexual sins and other sins that might be considered ‘grave’, I believed one couldn’t deal with the other ‘smaller’ sins. For instance, there are countless things an annoying sibling, rival or even friend could do to either make you say the wrong thing or act and react wrongly. Yet, in all this, it is possible to live without sinning against God. Or so the Bible says.
Jesus is never going to ask you to do something you can’t handle, is He? So if He asks that you be Holy as He is (1 Peter 1:16), He does so because He knows you can be.
There is a cheat code to living holy and separate to God. It is having the word of God in you. Our verse today sheds more light on that. You reflect what you feed your heart (Luke 6:45). Bearing God’s Word in your heart implies bearing Jesus (John 1:1).

Sin is death. The Word is life. Life has power over death.
Sin is darkness. The Word is Light. The Light shines and darkness can’t comprehend it, a candle being enough to push back the darkness in a very dark room.
‘Hiding the Word’ in your heart is akin to saving treasures that matter the most to you. The Word becomes the governing factor in your heart and a repellent against sinfulness.
You must daily give yourself to your relationship with God. Let the process matter to you. Let the relationship between you and Him count. Study the scriptures, meditate, listen for His word, talk to Him in prayers. Apply His word to everything you do in life – education, business, career, relationships. Retain that deep longing in your heart that only God can fill.
