Verse of the day.
God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Often, we forget that we did not come into the fellowship of the Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ, by our strength. We forget that the faithful God had convicted us of our sinful state and shown us our need of a Saviour, that He had made Himself a Home for us and called us to Himself, that He had empowered us to come to Him, and that in coming to Him, He washed, saved and brought us into the fellowship of His Son, giving us all things that pertain to life and godliness.
We forget these things by our actions, for soon after salvation we find ourselves resting more on our works than on His saving grace – like we did at the beginning. We begin to labour and become heavy laden. We also become belaboured by our character flaws rather than focusing on Jesus who is the pioneer and the perfecter of our faith.
Remember the foundations
It is, therefore, needful that we remember the foundations, how it all started, how dependent we were on God at the beginning, and rest in Him until the very end like we did at the start. When we do this, we learn to rest and trust in God’s faithfulness…that He who started this work in us will accomplish it until the end.

Trust in God’s Faithfulness
God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?
If He has promised rest for all those who labour and are heavy laden, then He has given it. But if you find that you still live in unrest, you’re uncertain if you qualify before Him, then you must cease from your labours.
Ceasing from your labours in this sense doesn’t connote laziness or physical death. No, ceasing from your labours only means that you die to yourself and your strength and live from a place of rest and trust in God where you think or do nothing of your own bidding but only think or do what you see Him do.
It is needful that we remember the foundations, and how dependent we were on God at the beginning, and rest in Him until the very end like we did at the start.Click To Tweet
Father, I remember the foundations, how we began. Today, I choose to cease from my labours and trust only in Your faithfulness.
