Verse of the day.
At that time the Lord said to Joshua, “Make flint knives for yourself, and circumcise the sons of Israel again the second time.”
In a company of God seekers, we’ll find people on varying levels in their journey of faith. As much room should be made for the young and growing as is made for the mature. The unconverted must be approached, the newly converted built, the week strengthened. This was the intent of the LORD when He issued His command to Joshua – that He would have access to the camp of His people, and they ALL would have access to Him
Circumcising the sons of Israel again the second time did not imply individually re-circumcising those who were already circumcised. No, when the Lord instructed Joshua, he simply asked him to circumcise those who due to their journey through the wilderness had never been circumcised. This instruction from God reflects the nature of His heart and holds a very important lesson for us in the new covenant – God never desires to leave anyone behind. And we must be like Him.

Therefore, strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees,
It should be our manner of worship to always seek to strengthen the spiritually weak. No matter how advanced we appear to be in our spiritual walk, we must never be so full of ourselves to think it unnecessary to strengthen the weak. We have a responsibility towards our brothers to save and strengthen them and ensure their spiritual vitality. We all are together the Lord’s building which must be built up into a holy tabernacle for Him. Therefore, I am you as you are me, your weakness my weakness and your strength my strength. This is the true nature of the body of Christ.
The sons of Israel were not to circumcise themselves, they were to be circumcised by Joshua with the right tools. For us, circumcision is no more of the flesh but of the heart. No man can circumcise hearts, none can by himself strengthen his brother. Jesus is our Saviour, Sanctifier, Circumciser, the Source of our strength, and our Healer. We must approach our feeble brothers and sisters with the help that Christ is and strengthen their spiritual weaknesses. This causes them to experience greater access by and to God just like the circumcised Israelites had.

Father, I receive, from You, the heart to seek the spiritual vitality of my brothers. May I ever bear the character to leave no one behind.
