Yield Your Heart

Day 113
Verse of the day.

Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion,
As in the day of trial in the wilderness,

Psalm 95:8

There is a natural tendency of the human heart to be overtly puffed up in the day of plenty and ease, and frustrated in the day of want and trials. This most often will harden such a heart, stirring up rebellion and disobedience against God.

But God is Love.

Not only are our sins and rebellion forgiven by Him through the death of His Son Jesus, but by His Life have all things which pertain to victoriously living out the Life of God in us been freely given to us. Thus, by the mercy and grace of God we who had no hope of salvation, now have no excuse to displease God.

Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion,

God has long seen the possibility of this and provided for our victory.

  1. The Word of God revealed to us by His Spirit convicts us, teaching us, and exposing us to the Light of God. This makes us able to obey God.
  2. God has given us a new, better and living covenant, by which we can now obey Him.

Unlike God’s people of old, who lived by the strength of their heart and will, we have been offered the possibility of a heart exchange, and this is where it all begins. We cannot serve God in acts if we haven’t received His heart and offered up ours to Him. This makes our walk with Him different.

A heart exchange with God begets a heart in us that is sensitive and responds to His call (Ezekiel 36:26). Such a heart, if drawn from, can only produce obedience for it is already one with God.

Today’s Declaration

Father, I appreciate the gift of Your heart which You have freely given. I receive this heart, draw strength from it and am made obedient to You, Your Word and Your Spirit.
