Be Strong

Day 154
Verse of the day

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Ephesians 6:10

Many believers struggle to live the life that God has called us to live. Yes, we profess with our mouths that we have salvation and justification in Christ and have been made more than conquerors in Him. Yet when we look at our lives, there often seems a great similarity between our ways and the ways of the world. Several believers struggle to find joy in the things of God. Many are driven by the same things that drive the world and struggle to express the righteousness of God outwardly.

Believing in Christ begins our journey with Him. Although it is not the end of our journey, it lasts with us until the end. We can be believers in Christ and yet be weak in and towards Him; weak to carry out His purposes; to oppose the advances of the evil one; to gain continuous victory over the flesh, and to live victoriously in Christ. But we are full of hope, being sure that He who has started a work in us will see it through till the end.

God loves us and has, in Christ, given us all we need to live victoriously and to find joy in Him. Our admonition to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might is therefore a call to engage all that He has made available for us in Christ.

We cannot be strong by ourselves towards God, for no strength lies in us. We can only be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. The empowering Holy Spirit has been given to us, granting us access to the living and enlivening Word. Let us rest in His strength by exercising our faith in voluntary trust and obedience to His Word.

Today’s Confession

In me resides the strength of the Almighty. I will live victoriously above all that life throws at me and find true joy in Him.
