Verse of the day
Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh.
You don’t change the composition of a wooden or mud house by simply painting over it. To change its composition, the building has to be remade. This is what happened to us at redemption. The fallen nature, which we lost in redemption, could not empower us to fulfill God’s will. It’s hardly about being morally upright and acceptable. Being morally upright does not by itself change one’s heart.
Howbeit, now being saved, and being given a new spirit and heart, we can walk in the statutes of God and keep His judgments. His instructions are not grievous, burdensome or oppressive to us. This is because we have together received a heart that lives, senses and responds to His word and will. This differs from the unresponsive heart of stone. It has Jesus’ blood pumping through it, thus lending it the needed spiritual vitality.
Beloved, the beauty of this new heart we have received is seen in our ability to walk in Daddy’s will. We can do as Daddy pleases. It is a heart which can grow and be built up in Him and can stay strengthened in the deepest waters of life’s challenges. We just need to build its strength through the Word of God such that when the tests come, we won’t faint. Strength is innate. It comes from the inside out.

Father, thank You for giving me a new heart and a new Spirit. Help me to build its strength in your Word. Lead me to a place where, boundlessly, I’ll trust and follow You.
