Verse of the day
My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.
As a believer in Christ, you no longer have the nature of sin and death but that of Christ. You ARE not a ‘sinner-saved-by-grace’ but a saint bearing the Life of Christ. And as the scriptures put it, you have now become a partaker of the divine nature.
Having the nature of the new creature in Christ does not exempt you from temptations. If it did, the scriptures would never warn against it. But in warning us against temptations the scriptures admonish us to desist from them, not for fear of hell or judgment but because it is no more our nature to live in sin and death. And even if hell ceased to exist, it’d still be most ideal to yield our entire being as instruments of righteousness unto God for that is who we have been made… the righteousness of God in Christ.
So, whether we are drawn away by our own lusts, or pressured by circumstances, we must draw strength from knowing that it matters to God for us to live righteously and walk worthy of our calling. We must also draw strength in knowing that God cares for us even in unpleasant circumstances and has given us the strength to overcome every temptation, for no temptation we face is greater than the power and life of God in us.
Therefore beloved, do not be deceived, if sin, or sinners, or even ‘saints’ entice you, do not yield because you are no more dead but alive.
