Verse of the day
“Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him commander over My people Israel, that he may save My people from the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon My people, because their cry has come to Me.”
The children of Israel had suffered many years from the hands of the Philistines. It was no small oppression they endured and they cried out to God for deliverance. In response to their call, God sent Samuel to anoint Saul, a deliverer, as king over His people.
This is a common theme in scripture as it concerns God and His people: whenever they cried out to Him, He would respond to their cries by reason of His father’s heart and faithfulness to His covenant.
A child’s cry will always tug at the father’s heart. It is almost impossible to have an earthly parent passively watch their child cry in apparent pain. And even if a man would do it, our Father will never stay indifferent to our cries.
Maybe you’ve been praying to God about a particular issue and have sought a breakthrough to no avail, then try tears, try the sincere cry of a heart in dire need of God.
Crying is a language of the heart that stems from absolute sincerity. Tears are liquid words that the mouth cannot express. When we get to the heights of true desperation for God, when we have exhausted all our options and begin to truly understand that “who have I in heaven but You?”, we would cry to God and He will hear us.
No cry to the Father goes unheard. No suffering or pain you go through is He oblivious to. He is with you in your pain, lovingly working out your deliverance. Sometimes it may take a while, but rest assured He is working. Sometimes it will take several years in Egypt’s oppression but this is only because He is raising the Moses. It may take a while but He is all the time moving Samuel to anoint the Saul. Either way, Father is never indifferent to your cries and sufferings.
He is faithful. Oh, how faithful He is! And He will not fail you. Trust and rest in Him. Rest in your Father’s arms.
Father, thank You for Your faithful love. I rest in You today like a child in the Father’s arms.
