The Fellowship Of Faith

Day 194
Verse of the day

That the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Philemon 1:6

The Apostle Paul, in praying for the readers of his epistles, always prayed about their knowledge and understanding of the things pertaining to their faith, knowing well how important it is in our pursuit of Him.

Sharing Your Faith

Faith is more than just a conviction we hold about God’s truth. It is translated into a fellowship with God and with others. This fellowship of faith is what is expressed in our relations with God and men, it is what defines our actions and is indeed the summation of the love and faith toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints, as seen in verse 5.

However, there is more than a need for a sharing of faith but also an effective sharing. This is the fullness and perfection of our faith that is important in God’s plan for us. How then can the fellowship of our faith be effective?

Acknowledgment of Every Good Thing

The understanding of our Source is a key to an overflowing life of effective faith. A river that forgets its source will soon dry up. Through our knowledge and acknowledgment of every good thing that saints have in Christ, we are able to effectively share our faith.

When God begins to open our eyes to the “good things” that are ours by reason of Christ Jesus and we acknowledge Him as our source, our lives become an expression of His faith; His life and nature. This is because we can only move towards the light we see. Our light can so shine only to the degree of light that has been so shone to us.

It is very important to note, however, that this “in you” doesn’t speak of you only as an individual but translates as “in us”. Our effectiveness is tied here to the unity among the Saints. We may have seen to a certain degree who we are and what we have in Christ which is great. But God wants us to begin seeing the good things “we” as a body have amongst us in our fellowship with Christ.
