Verse of the day.
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age
The grace of God literally implies unmerited favour given by God to enable man – male and female – to do that which would not be humanly possible. This Grace abounds and abides with us when we make God the centre of our lives. Life is full of things that are difficult to avoid – sometimes you want to walk up to someone and give them ‘a piece of your mind’ because they really deserve to hear it; like the ever-present-never-staying-in-their-lane-yellow-buses-in-Lagos. You’d literally want to drum some sense into their head but it takes more than the human strength not to use harsh words on them.
This analogy is just a scratch on the surface when you look deeply at Titus 2:11-12. Grace teaches us to deny ourselves of worldly lusts; this is because these things are dominant these days. It is a world plagued by all sorts of evil and vices of the devil which are ever ready to trap us. We are taught (trained and disciplined by Grace) to live soberly and righteously.
Is it possible not to accept these teachings and Grace despite it being given to us? Yes! Consistent frolicking with the world and sin will frustrate the Grace which is originally meant to keep us in the path of righteousness (Romans 6:1)
To enjoy this Grace which already abides with us, there is the need to stay disciplined because staying saved isn’t a one-off, we must daily allow the Grace of God teach us to say yes to the godly life that God wants us to live.
Do that today. God’s Grace be with you. Amen.
This Grace abounds and abides with us when we make God the center of our lives.
