How Can I See The Kingdom Of God?

Day 197
Verse of the day

Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”

John 3:3

Unless one…

There is a saying in some circles that Jesus, the beloved, was a prophet of the Jews; that His business as a messenger of God began and ended with the Jews. This belief has many times been countered by Jesus’ own words, one of which we find in today’s verse. “Unless one…” reflects the range of His statement: this was not for Nicodemus, this is not for the Jews, this is for every human.

…is born again, He cannot see the kingdom of God.

To be born again is to experience the new birth in Christ. This is a spiritual work which occurs via the working of the Holy Spirit in us when we receive and confess Jesus as Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead (for our salvation). This, which takes place in our spirits, births us into life in God’s Kingdom. It opens us up to His world which is also spiritual.

The kingdom of God must not be regarded as a geographical place beyond the skies, as a place we only access when we die. All that stands between us and seeing the kingdom of God is being born again, not physical death. Thus while alive and walking this earth we can very well see, in and through Jesus, the kingdom of God.

The kingdom is here, now, in Christ. In Him we live, move and have our being. This kingdom resides within us and is never far away. It is our home, where we belong.

If we reckon ourselves to be in this kingdom, we will see and live in it.

Today’s Confession

Dad, I thank You for giving me new life in Christ. I reckon myself to already belong to Your kingdom. Help me see the works and wonders of Your Kingdom and be an expression of this even here on earth.
