Verse of the day
But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
“For this reason shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh,”
It’s not uncommon to hear this verse being read during weddings; the reason being the joining of both parties as one flesh. Being of one flesh here really means being one body. It is why God allows you to have the highest degree of physical intimacy with your spouse alone. An attack against your partner is an attack against you and vice versa. This implies that both spouses have the duty to love, protect and respect each other.
Likewise, when joined with Christ, we have become one spirit with Him. We share with Him the inheritance of the Father. Now, since we are joined together, we have the similar duty of a couple to love, respect and protect one another. We know for a fact that Jesus Christ can NEVER do anything that will disappoint or hurt our relationship because it is not in His nature. His nature is love and righteousness. This nature of love and righteousness we have received in our spirits which have been made one with Him.
Having received this very nature, the onus lies on us to do our part in living it out. This requires guarding against all forms of unrighteousness. This is easy for us because God’s grace helps us prevail despite the temptations and trials we are bound to come across.
Being joined with Christ provides us with the ability to be just like Him and to handle situations as perfectly as He would. If you are one spirit with Him, you benefit from the abundance of His power over the enemy and his systems.

Father, help me to be joined with You in entirety as I am joined with You in spirit, that my voluntary actions and inactions may be a reflection of Your perfect will.
