Sometimes, It Is More Blessed To Receive Than To Give

Day 279
Verse of the day

But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Luke 10:42

Daddy desires to have us relate with Him with a sense of utmost simplicity. It is that which takes away every veil of complexity and establishes a father and baby relationship – not just in words. This is a relationship where the child is always on the father’s lap, in his arms, at his feet, listening, receiving, beholding His face n childlike wonder. Far above the ministry of evangelism, soul-winning, or hospitality, is the believer’s primary ministry of beholding His face.

Although it is often said how it is more blessed to give than to receive, the greatest blessing we ever got came when we received salvation. It is receiving all that our Father has given us that rejoices His heart above all else.

Martha honoured the Lord. Once, when He visited her family, she did all that she could to ensure His comfort and that of those who were with Him. She got busy serving. Mary, her sister on the other hand, only sat at His feet listening, being served. She was content with being branded irresponsible if that was what it took to see into her Master’s heart. She loved the Lord and would seize every opportunity to listen and to become like Him. No one else’s opinion of her would matter but His.

And He so beautifully approved of her actions when He declared that she had made the most needed choice and decreed that her heart’s posture of receiving is one that will never be taken from her.

It is from such posture of receiving that we are eventually able to offer gifts spotting the most delightful savour and fragrance.

Today’s Confession

Daddy, I am helped of You. I am helped with a heart’s posture that readily receives all that You have to give, be it in the joy of commendation, rigour of learning, or pain of discipline.
