Verse of the day
“It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and put in his garden; and it grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches.”
Sometimes, we are a hasty bunch. We expect to have immediate or quick results at least. But our Father is not this way.
God loves process; it is the way He works. We see this reflected in all He made. A fetus has to stay in the mother’s womb for 9 months or there’ll be a problem. A chrysalis remains in its cocoon for weeks before it emerges as a beautiful butterfly. Any disruption of a process in nature will always result in a problem.
In our text for today, we see the Kingdom being likened to a mustard seed that grows to become a tree. This is quite fascinating. Isn’t it somewhat mind-boggling how a tiny seed can grow into a huge tree that produces fruits and innumerable seeds? This is the stuff the Kingdom is made of.
The Kingdom of God never blows up overnight. God’s purposes are not worked out as soon as they are birthed; they take a process. The kingdom in us is not immediately like a tree that one would quickly see, admire and take shade in. If we see this happening, it is safe to say it is not the Kingdom.
It is a slow, fascinating process of that one seed that is buried in the earth for nights, enduring death in the ground before it springs up; before it peeks its head from the dirt and continues to grow slowly but surely.
Wherever God’s Kingdom is, this is the principle that surrounds it.
So give yourself room to grow. Give God’s purpose in other people’s lives the chance to grow. Give His purpose on the earth space to grow. Be patient with God. Be patient as the seed of God’s Kingdom finds fulfillment in you.
Lord, I believe you’re working your Kingdom out. I trust in You even through the process of growth.
