Verse of the day
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.
Honey is precious. It sweetens the mouth, brightens the eyes, refreshes and energizes the body. Due to its content, it is found to be useful for both therapeutic and curative health purposes.
Pleasant words are just like honey. They are sweet, soothing and relieving to the hearts of those to whom they are spoken. They are kind, soft, encouraging and gracious words that are capable of lifting up the souls of the downcast, brightening the forlorn eyes of the helpless, and serving encouragement to the weak.
When you serve up Jesus in daily life through your words, how sweet or soothing is He? Do your words bring healing to those who hear them? Or do your words leave people with bleeding hearts?
Jesus’ words bring joy to ready hearers. So must ours. The Bible says, of the word of the Lord, that it is sweeter than honey and the honeycomb, causing joy and rejoicing in the hearts of the hearers. Can you not testify of this? How blessed you are when you hear, read or study His word?
Rather than break, your words should heal the broken-hearted, lift up the downcast, bring the best out of everyone you meet.
There is power in the tongue. Allow the love of God to govern the choice of your words. Set goals to speak gracious words only, every day. Seek grace, and deliberately identify and speak of the good in others. Do not speak cruel, harsh and demeaning words to them.
May the words I speak or write be wholly influenced by You.
