Verse of the day
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given;
God’s promises are yea and amen. Unto us a Child was promised, and unto us a Child was born. Unto us a Son was promised, and unto us a Son, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, was given. And if God could give up His beloved, only begotten Son for you and me out of His love and desire to make us one with Him, won’t He carry out a full redemption of our spirit, soul and body? Won’t He see to it that we come to a place where our desires, spontaneous thoughts, actions and reactions and every fruit we bear are just like Christ’s?
On this lies our confidence that every promise spoken concerning us will be fulfilled. Every promise regarding our full redemption. The promise that sin and death will be totally defeated. The promise that we will take on a most glorious body bereft of the dictates and desires of the flesh; a promise of an end to fear. And if Christ was given for us, surely these will be given to us.
All that He was will we be. All that He did will we do, and even greater. The fruits of the Spirit will we fully bear. The full nature of Christ will we fully wear.
This is the hope, assurance, and knowledge by which we live. Therefore we lay aside all that we have attained, and every weight by which we are beset as we pursue the promise, the glorious dawning of a new day, where our eyes will behold the beauty of the King and we will rejoice in that fully, we have been made just like Him.
Merry Christmas.And if God could give up His beloved, only begotten Son for you and me out of His love and desire to make us one with Him, won’t He carry out a full redemption of our spirit, soul and body?
Father, I believe every promise You have made in redemption. Trusting in the gift of your Son, I press towards the mark of your high calling knowing fully well that your promises are, for me, yea, and for me, amen.
