Interestingly, discouragement is a vital part of our walk with God. It allows Him to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. God sees when His children’s feet become heavy, when their hearts begin to fail, when they feel tormented by fear, when it seems as though their efforts have been a waste. He sees all these things and reaches out in His perfect timing.
The Prophet Isaiah lived in a day when God’s people under attack from the Assyrian army. Although God delivered Judah by sending a plague to destroy the camp of the Assyrians, Isaiah looked beyond his time and foretold the coming bondage of Judah and the deliverance that God would provide. This gives a graphic illustration of the circumstances in which today’s text was set and it’s significance to our lives. Whether it’s dryness, or grief, frustration, or uncertainty, God is working in you and on your behalf.
“With this news bring cheer to all discouraged ones”
