Verse of the day:
for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
Dear one, the desire you often feel to do the will of the Father is a result of His work in you. The above scripture is a testimony to that. The Holy Spirit is at work within your being, stirring up these holy emotions and desire. However, He does not stop there. In the same manner, He works in you to do Father’s will. This means that He makes available, both the internal and external resources you need for action.
As a result, there is no need to entertain anxiety about fulfilling your purpose on earth or about doing His pleasure. This is because God has made everything you need available! There is no need to strive with your own power anymore. You have been crucified with Christ and raised up with Him. Therefore, your living on earth is no longer a result of your efforts alone, but an inward and outward working of the life of God in you.
Herein, you find rest in purpose: that the Holy Spirit is constantly leading you and providing all that you need. As you continue to delight yourself in your relationship with God, you will find that He guides your thoughts, conversations, even emotions to follow after His will. Remember Peter? Once, Peter was hungry, and the Lord used Peter’s hunger to teach him a lesson crucial to the Gospel! Father does those kinds of creative things to get our attention to His will. Yet, He does not stop there; He Himself provides all that is needed to fulfill His will. For example, He does things like sending men and even angels your way.
All He is asking now is that you rest in Him.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not think that you can carry out His will by your own striving. In all your ways, learn to listen to Father, and follow Him where He leads. This way, you’ll find rest for your soul.
Have a lovely day!
