Verse of the day.
But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.
Imagine being on a long trip without sufficient water. You’d find an opportunity to refill at each terminal because of how difficult it is to stay long periods without it. It’s the same with living. We are on a “long trip” and as long as we thirst for the mundane things – the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and pride of life, we will always search for more. It’s never satisfying and it’s exhaustible.
Jesus, however, gives something better, a fountain of unreachable depth living inside of you. A fountain that is always springing, gushing and flowing, ever fresh, ever living. He says you can have a constant supply that flows all seasons, against all odds.
What/Who is that water?
The Holy Spirit – the Spirit of Christ- is the water that Springs up inside us unto eternal life.
Eternal life is not knowing about God but knowing God intimately. That’s what the Holy Spirit does inside of us. He “springs” us into this life. So, at times when life seems hard and all doesn’t seem well, we do not thirst for the things of the world, instead, we draw from the wellness inside of us. We draw strength, hope, peace, etc, through the Spirit. Not for ourselves alone, but we flow as a living fountain to the world around us; not for some time but forever. We have a constant supply from the ever fresh, ever living fountain inside of us.

Sweet Father, thank you for the fountain of living water that flows in us through your spirit. Daddy, we drink constantly from your fountain as we fellowship with you. As we drink, we allow you to find expression in us and find that nothing else truly satisfies. Help us to be saturated with you.
