Verse of the day
For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.
There has always been the need for companionship. God created Eve to be a companion to Adam because he was alone despite being amid several plants and animals.
Undoubtedly, there are certain tasks that we’d rather carry out on our own without the need for interference which could be to ensure we finish in record time or be more efficient or to prevent distractions but when it comes to charting the course of life, we need friends in our circle.
Life is tough. The choice to walk in love would require unlearning to feel and respond to things the way your natural man would have, and this would necessitate putting on a new nature that would make you susceptible to more attacks.
In times like these, you are as good as those you surround yourself with. You can do with friends that stick closer than brothers. Jonathan was one of such to David. The essence of friends like this is they fan your flames. They remind you of why you started. They encourage you. They defend you. They are a rock to lean on. They cry with you. They rejoice with you. They pray with you.
Friends in our circle need to be this for us…in turn, we need to be friends like these for others. There is a friend who cares deeply and intentionally about us – Jesus. His is friendship borne of perfect love.
