Verse of the day
So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
What would you call a cold church? A church that does not love the Lord or is totally against Him. Now, wouldn’t it be quite contradictory for Jesus, the Head of the church, to desire such a church as a reflection of His hatred for the lukewarm church? If it would be contradictory, why then do we often interpret His statement above to mean, “I will take, a fiery, faithful church; I will also take a cold, unfaithful one; but one which is neither faithful nor unfaithful I will reject.”
Was this His communicated intention or did we draw this by ourselves? The latter part of the verse helps shed more light.
You only vomit from your mouth what you attempted swallowing. This could be food or drink.
When you examine a sample of 10 random people, you’d find, depending on what the weather conditions in your location are, that a great part of your sample would prefer a hot cup of coffee or a cold bottle of some soft drink to a cup of any lukewarm drink; hardly would you find someone who’d desire a glass of lukewarm water, coffee or any other drink. Cold or hot drinks are useful and can be enjoyed. Same cannot be said of lukewarm ones.
This is what He tried communicating with His body. For as long as you are lukewarm, you cannot bring Jesus satisfaction, you cannot satisfy His thirst, neither can you bring Him delight. And this leaves us with a few questions: How can one tell if one is good for nothing with Jesus? How can one tell if one is lukewarm to His taste?
Daddy, I appreciate Your choice to take delight in Your children. Like a cold drink on a hot day or a hot drink on a cold day, help me to bring You satisfaction via my interactions with You and all that You have made.
